Part I 
Okay so I’m Vex again! I went to see the “Last King Of Scotland” over the weekend, and what a film that was; another very nasty piece of work. For all those who may not know, the film is centred around Idi Amin, former President of Uganda who took over from the British Colonisers when Uganda gained Independence in 1962. It follows the experience of a White doctor from Scotland (Nicholas) who goes to Uganda to work, and ends up working for Amin as his personal Doctor.
Now, I don’t claim to be an expert on the history of this, but you really don’t have to be in order to see that something weren’t right and further, clock the motives of this film, which I believe is this: To paint a very elaborate picture of brutal corrupt Afrikan Leadership, in order to perpetuate the stereotype, and continue to justify the mistrust and vilification of Afrikan government. In doing so, effectively ridiculing any thought & ideas of Afrikan self reliance & autonomy.
This is very evident in how they deliberately skirted around some of the serious & sinister issues.
For Example, reference is made (more than once) to the fact that Britain (and England more specifically) were “Intricately” involved with the coming of Idi Amin to power in Uganda, and they are shown actively participating in his government. At some point during the film they turn on him, and want to kill him, But there is no explanation as to WHY – If they put him in government in the first place. But by then the film had already painted a particularly vicious tyrannical image of Amin, there by Justifying the British position, and also making it seem as if their motives & purpose were virtuous & altruistic.
The little research that I was able to do thus far reveals the fact that he was put in power to be a mere lackey for European bidding. But he began to divert from the script and became liability, so in true British style, they wanted him out……Dead. Theres a couple more examples I could use, but point is we always need to check factuality of these things when we watch them, because they are designed to get us het up with Idi Amin and …”oh how terrible he is” while we miss the source of the Brutality. But I’ move on cuz……
THIS IS WHAT INFURIATED ME DA MOST! Every Afrkan Woman is the Film is portrayed as a HOE or sum form of sexual titillation for the White doctor. Indeed within the first 5 mins of the film he dun Sexed off one sister that he met on a bus after jus reaching Uganda. He spends his time gawking after Afrikan women 
and there physical assets, and indeed many of those whom he is surrounded by are obviously & expressly there for his sexual gratification. The ONLYwoman who refuses him is the White Woman he works with in a hostel before he is employed by Idi Amin. Her reasons being that she is Married. BUT WAIT, one of the women he successfully beds in his conquests is none other than Idi Amin’s wife. Again this is justified in the film by the fact that Idi Amin apparently didn’t treat her to good. However the white woman was able to withstand the Temptation, even though her Marriage was on the rocks. Never the less we are left with innocent, pure, white woman juxtaposed with the vulgar, over sexualised Afrikan woman, who’s purpose is to fulfill the desires of white man. Not much has changed has it!
Now we get to the end, where the great white hope Saviour stuff really comes out. After running round try to save numerous people from the Viscious hands of Idi Amins Government, the good White Doctor is caught trying to poison Amin. He’s subjected to some pretty serious punishment, and is saved by an Afrikan who takes pity on him, so he can go and “….tell the world the truth about whats happening”. When the good doctor asks what going to happen to him (The Afrikan), the reply is “My life is in Gods Hands”. 10 seconds later he shot dead. We always happen to do that in these films, sacrifice all the save them, because no matter what – we must die, in order for the white man to live!
